Motorized butterfly valves with iron bodies are the most commonly supplied by AVS because they are commonly used in water applications, the most popular use for motorized butterfly valves. Iron bodies can be either cast iron for wafer pattern butterfly valves, or ductile iron in fully lugged and tapped versions. The iron body can contain a variety of discs and liner materials, the liner protecting the body from the flowing media.
